Lots of shows recently:  great turnouts and great art!  The Halloween-themed art shows are all over, and while they were lots of fun, the art community is ready to move on to the next order of business.  For me, that means finishing up a new body of work for my 2-person show at Radial, and getting ready to make lots of small works for all of the december small works shows (art is great gift!)

Some Upcoming Shows:
MOCA GA Annual Pin-Up Show: Nov. 17th, 7-10pm, Atlanta, GA
VISIONS Annual Student Exhibition: Nov. 19th, 7-10pm, Visions Student Gallery in the University Suites, Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, GA
New Work by Morgan Booker and Christopher Wong, Radial Cafe, Nov. 21st, 7-10pm
Youngblood Gallery's Small Works Exhibition: Dec. 3rd, 7-10pm, Atlanta, GA
DooGallery's Skate Deck Art Show, 7-pm-2am, 205 Holtzclaw Street, Atlanta GA

See the "Updates" Page for a SNEAK PEAK at artwork for Photographer Christopher Wong and I's 2-person show at Radial Cafe, Nov. 21st!

This Saturday, November 5th, from 7-10pm join us for PONCE CRUSH, midtown's awesome monthly art stroll!  We begin at Beep Beep Gallery, then move on to Kibbee Gallery, and finally end up at Youngblood Gallery, for the Day of the Dead Show and Art Party that will last until 2am with live music, food trucks, and awesome artwork including mine!  Come see my sculpture/mixed media piece in person!

"Sci-Fi Show Success, Day of the Dead, Solo Show in Buckhead at Phipps Plaza, New Series of Work"

Greetings!  Thank you to everyone who came out for the Highlander Art show, it was hugely impressive and lots of fun! There's a photo from the opening at the bottom of this post.  I have thre pieces in the group show.

Youngblood's Day of the Dead Show coffins are now distributed and I have begun work on mine. Save the date, the opening will be November 5th, 2011!  Live performance, music, food, art... you won't want to miss this!

My solo show at The Grape at Phipps Plaza will begin installation soon;  we have a tentative opening date of November 1st.  A press release will be posted here soon, heck back for updates. :)

On the left is a sneak preview of a WIP from a new series I am developing conceptually. The gist of the message throughout the work is the idea of the "search for a soul," or simply the search for that spark of life,  the longing and desire, the fear and loathing, the want and the need and the pain of mankind's search for the WHY to complement science's HOW.  It is a deeply conceptual series, which will ask difficult questions close at the war lines of science and spirituality, and bring up intense, interesting, necessary and sometimes uncomfortable topics, the kind that people avoid at parties and the dinner table. It will be mostly figurative work, and incorporate imagery from previous paintings of mine such as "Sea/Spirit/Space", which can be found under the "new work 2011" webpage. (Also, the "halo" around her head is the human genome)

Thank you dear readers and collectors. Peace!

"Summertime Painting and May Shows"

Once again, a great big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the Art Show, Sale, and Auction in Marietta May 21st! Thank you to those who purchased some of my work!

As you might have seen under "updates" and also under "Cup of Ocean, Glass of Salt, Spoonful of Sea" I have posted images of fifteen new works from the seashell series I have been very busy with. I have also begun to sell prints and originals online at etsy! Check it out here:

Information about the internship I am currently doing can be found under "Updates."  I am thrilled to be working for the Southeastern Museum Conference in addition to making my own work!  I have also been elected co-chair of the Emerging Museum Professionals Event and Seminar that will be taking place on Wednesday, October 26th, at the SEMC Annual Conference in Greenville.

I am preparing to embark upon a new series of Vino (Wine) paintings, also elaborated upon under "Updates."  Email me for more questions!  I am happy to hang on consignment in a retail or restaurant atmosphere.

If you are a local gallery, artist, or dealer, please contact me through email to speak further about collaborative opportunities.  Thank you and much peace!

"The Heart is like a Lovely Shell", Clay and Mixed Media (seashells), WORK in PROGRESS, 2011

You can find more ceramic work under the "Printmaking/Sculpture" Section of this website.

"My heart is like a lovely shell;
all over bright colors, the sound of the sea,
the hard husk to protect the delicate thing within.
Tossed on white-tipped waves,
far traveled and sailor scorned..."
